NORTH GLASGOW FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT GROUP HOSTS ANNUAL MINI TOURNAMENT
12 teams of young footballers from all over the Glasgow area will take part in the 3rd annual North Glasgow Football Development Group (NGFDG) mini tournament on Sunday 1 June at North Kelvinside Pitches on Queen Margaret Drive. The tournament will kick off at 10am with the prize giving planned for approximately 2pm.
Last year around 200 spectators watched under 9, under 10 and under 11, 7 a side teams take part in the Spring Tournament and the NGFDG will again be represented by its North Kelvin United children's teams.
Previously teams from as far apart as Blantyre to Bearsden and Broomhill to Gartcraig have taken part in the tournament, where the hosts' NGFDG make a priority of promoting sports participation and community development and teams are rewarded for fair play as well as results during the games.
Pauline Robertson, Coach of the North Kelvin United U11's said: " It's a great experience for these children to play football and meet new players from around the city.”
David Kelly, club secretary for the North Glasgow Football Development Group stated: "The previous success of this tournament shows just how important sports pitches are to the community and the benefits of young people taking part in."
The NGFDG would encourage spectators of all ages to come along and support the children and coaches who give up valuable time to facilitate these opportunities. Further details of the group can be found at www.NGFDG.co.uk
The NGFDG host weekly coaching sessions, every Sunday Morning at 11 am until 12.30 pm, at the North Kelvinside Pitches on Queen Margaret Drive. All children of primary School age are welcome to come along. All the children need to bring along with them is suitable clothing and footwear and 50p.
